The swimming pool slab was screeded to obtain a smoother finish for pool slab tiling.

Screeding the swimming pool slab (9 October 2008).
Then the pool sidewall was tiled.

Tiling the pool sidewalls (11 October 2008).
Something about these tiles, both for the pool slab and the sidewalls. They are large square pieces made up of smaller tiles. Each large square tile is made up from 6×6 small square tiles. There is some sort of flexible mesh at the back of the tile which holds the 6×6 small square tiles together.

The pool has been designed with several shades of blue. So tiles have to be cut to make the pattern.

The pattern follows curved lines (14 October 2008).
Before tiling began the pool slab was marked in a grid. Each square of the grid will fit 2×2 large square tiles. As each large square tile is made from 36 small tiles, 144 small tiles fit into each grid square. This grid is marked with black ink.
The curved lines are in red ink. These are for the patterns, the change in shade of blue.

The tiles are cut with an angle grinder to follow the curved red lines.

There is a curved red line under that guy's foot at the top of the picture.

Cut tiles at the pool corner.
Pool slab tiling continues from grid square to grid square.

Sidewall tiling has completed and slab tiling is on top of the screeding (14 October 2008).

The pattern cutting is very accurate.
Accurate tile cutting means that 2×2 large tiles still fit in every grid square.

Those 5 things near the top left are the feature things on the Observation Deck. Names are written by Azman on the concreting DOs.

Plastering the gaps between the individual tiles (22 October 2008).
When the pool slab tiling had completed, plasterers plaster the gaps between each small tile and then it's not possible to tell that each tile is actually made from 6×6 smaller tiles.

Pool slab tiling completed (6 November 2008).
That's another feature thing to the left of the pool. Can't guess what it is? It flies. Not this one but the real ones do.

Xose: True lots of people seem to smoke in this country. The muslims don't drink but almost everywhere someone seems to be smoking a cigarette. Not that I'm in favour of it though, could be very dangerous to the health in the long term.
